Annapurna Base Camp is one of the easiest treks in Nepal compared to other high-altitude treks. This trek is very moderate and has a low chance of altitude sicknesses. Anyone having good health condition and stamina can easily do this trek and can get the pleasure of nature walking during the trek. The routes are a mix of steep so you need to be a little careful while walking. You need to walk for about 6-7 hours daily.
Difficulty can be faced only in the case of bad weather and disturbance in the trail caused by natural disasters. Having past trekking, camping, or hiking experience will make the trek easier.
The ABC route is completely inhabited by people and villages. Compared to other trekking routes, eatery options are more on this trek. The meals will be served from the teahouse or a lodge menu where we stay.
Bread toast with jam, butter, or honey, pancakes, eggs cooked as per your preferred style, and chapati is available for breakfast. You will be served traditional Nepali food like rice, curry, soup, lentils, pickles, and Nepali-style cooked meat for lunch. For dinner, you can enjoy traditional food made using local ingredients as well as you can order Tibetan., continental, or Italian food as per the menu. Filter water, hot drinks, and cold drinks are easily available.
Teahouses, lodges, and Guesthouses are available for accommodation during the trek. The rooms are very simple and comfortable with one or two beds having very little furniture and AC & heater facilities are not available.
The least accommodation provides attached bathrooms; most of all have shared baths and restrooms. Some will provide a hot shower but in the absence of a hot shower, you are free to ask for a bucket of hot water. And if you want to enjoy the local lifestyle of people, you can book your accommodation on Homestay also where you will get the chance to enjoy local food, tradition, and culture locals.
Even though the location of Annapurna Base Camp is within the Annapurna Conservation Area, trekkers must have an individual ACAP entry permit. Two passport-size photographs are needed to apply for the permit. The permit fee for SAARC Nationals is NPR 200/-(Two hundred only), and for other nationals, it costs NPR 3000/- (Three thousand only). Children bow the age of 10 do not need any entry fee.
Trekker's Information Management System (TIMS) card is required to hike to Annapurna Base Camp. For this, you need a copy of your passport and two passport size photographs and Nepali currency correspondent to $20 / per person (Green TIMS card) for individual travelers and $10/per person (Blue TIMS card) for group travelers, to apply for the TIMS card. TIMS cards can be get at the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
