Upper Mustang possesses a trans- Himalayan climate; cool and semi-arid with precipitation located in the rain shadow of Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri (the 7th highest mountain in the world) ranges.

Being rich in Buddhist culture, Upper Mustang gratifies the visitors to experience the Tibetan culture and beautiful barren landscapes as it is part of the Tibetan plateau. Also, 55 cave paintings depicting the life of Lord Buddha – Light of Asia can be observed in Mustang.

Kagbeni is a gateway to enter the Upper Mustang Trek  and you are required to hold the special trekking permit along with the companion of a government official during the entrance to the gateway. You will get an opportunity to choose the commuting means; an exclusive drift ride on a horse or an enjoyable off-road jeep drive to explore after reaching Lo Manthang, the final destination situated at an altitude of 3,840m of Upper Mustang trek.

You will unveil the real lifestyle of Mustang people who are acquiring animal husbandry as one of the prime options of livelihood with an equal focus on the huge production of apples.
